Abstract
Lead is included in the type of non-essential heavy metals, this heavy metal
cannot be decomposed naturally and will not undergo deformation. Fly ash adsorbent
contains SiO2 and Al2O3, it can be used as an adsorbent to absorb heavy metal lead
Pb. This study aims to determine the ability of coal fly ash adsorbent in reducing the
concentration of Pb metal. Coal fly ash adsorbent is obtained through the combustion
of coal in the boiler and is chemically activated using CH3COONa.3H2O 1 N. The
concentration of Pb metal is measured using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry
(AAS). The adsorption capacity is analyzed by varying the dose of coal fly ash
adsorbent 2, 4, 6 and 8 grams and stirring time 30, 60 and 90. The results showed that
the effectiveness of coal fly ash adsorbent absorption was highest at a dose of 8 grams
with a stirring time of 90 minutes at 99.684%. The highest absorption capacity is at a
dose of 2 grams with a stirring time of 90 minutes of 0.945 mg/g. Coal fly ash has the
potential as an alternative adsorbent that can be used to treat wastewater containing
Pb metal.
