Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the university students’ ability on picture-cued story-telling in speaking skill. This research was conducted by using descriptive research design. The participants of this study were students at Serambi Mekkah University from semester 4, 6, and 8. Semester 4 consisted of 10 students, in semester 6 consisted of 10 students, and in semester 8 consisted of 10 students. So, the total sample was 30 students. In collecting the data, the writer used an instrument; that’s story-telling test. In analyzing the data, the researcher collecting the students' voice recordings, and the researcher listened them repeatedly in order to know the speech. The results of the story-telling test show that70% of the students got a good achievement in speaking skill. Furthermore, 30% of the students got an excellent achievement in speaking skill. The writer concluded that the average value of the students' ability in picture-cued story-telling in speaking skill reaches the good category.
